To learn more about Crewe’s heritage, take a look at Crewe Town Council’s school resource packs.

The resources include information, photographs, maps and videos about Crewe, grouped into curriculum based themes. They also contain activities relevant to each Key Stage. Themes include:

  • Sarah Maddocks 1845 - Sarah was one of the original inhabitants of the Railway Cottages

  • Ada Nield 1894 - Ada campaigned for the rights of working class women and girls

  • Daisy Haywood 1914 - Daisy was a nurse during the First World War. Find out about the roles women took during the First and Second World Wars

  • John Bunting 1938 - John worked in a secret factory during the Second World War

  • Raz Ahmed 1964 - Raz moved to Crewe in the 1960s. Find out about life in Crewe in the 1960s
