Remembering Harry Watson

In Remembrance

Harry Watson.jpeg

Today we remember Harry Watson on what would have been his 95th Birthday, Harry sadly passed away in 2011 and is sorely missed by everyone at the Heritage Centre.

Before retirement Harry served in His Majesty’s Forces in the Middle East, when demobilised he joined British Railways, working at Whitchurch and later at Crewe in a variety of different roles.

During his time with the Crewe and District Youth Centre, he founded and ran the hiking and camping trips for many years, enjoying nature and the environment on trips into the countryside. Harry was a keen artist and enjoyed painting both landscapes and railway related subjects.

At the Heritage Centre harry was involved with many activities including tuition of visiting school pupils in the art of draughtsmanship and art in general. He particularly enjoyed demonstrating his high speed drawing of railway locomotives, whilst visitors operated stopwatches.

Our collection of harry’s paintings are now available to view here on our website.
