It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our longest serving volunteers Brian Metcalfe, Brian was a true friend to all of our team members.

Brian has been involved in the Heritage Centre since we opened in 1987, he has held several roles during his time at the Heritage Centre. In recent years Brian has led our Signaling Team overseeing the upkeep of the North Junction Signal Box.

Many will know Brian from his time as a Mathematics teacher at Crewe County Grammar school, Ruskin Road where he had also been a pupil.

A lifelong fan of the LNWR it was at Ruskin Road where he, together with like minded pupils, built a model railway of Rugeley Trent Valley which was exhibited at the Heritage Centre in its opening year 1987.

Brian will be leaving a huge hole in our team and will be sorely missed and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
